pH-Value

The pH indicates the degree of acid content in the water. A pH reading of 7 is neutral, under 7 is acidic, and over 7 the water is alkali. No recomendation can be given on the optimal pH-value, because, depending on their origin, fish have very different needs. An example of this are South American fish, which live in a very acidic enviroment (pH less than 7); Cichlids, however, from East African inland waters survive in alkaline waters (pH higher than 7).

If you discover that the pH-value in your aquarium is too high, we recommend the careful acidification of the water by using aquavital black peat or aquavital granu-peat.
