Despite the utmost care and attention, illnesses connected with ornamental fish cannot always be avoided. Fast and efficient remedies are then required, namely medication that not only repells the illness successfully, but protects against any accompanying secondary illnesses. In many cases an exact diagnosis by the aquarist is not possible. The only thing that is known is that we are dealing with an exterior infection. Among these are: Ichthyopthirius, fungal infections, velvet and bacterial infections.
 
To cure is good. To cure gently is better. The treatment of ornamental fish using a dosage sachet.

Illness can cause ornamental fish a lot of stress. Therefore, during treatment the fish should not be further disturbed. For instance, due to a too higher dosage or over a longer than necessary period. In view of this Aquarium Münster has developed the patented dosage sachet. It ensures »gentle« healing by ensuring equal distribution of the active substances regularly into the aquarium water. Never too much never too little and only as long as necessary.

The dosage sachet plays a major role, particularly when treating the Ichthyophthirius illness. The Ichthyophthirius parasite is found under the mucous membrane of the fish. After a few days it breaks through the mucous membrane and falls to the bottom of the aquarium, onto the plants and stones, where it then seperates into 1,000 to 2,000 cells (swarm). The swarm then sheds its skin and looks for a new base (in this case the fish). They pierce the skin and form small white balls.

Only in the stage when the swarming spawn is looking for a new base they can be killed by medication. Therefore, it is important to maintain a regular concentration of medication over an eight day period. The dosage sachet guarantees the equal distribution of the active substances. The swarming spawn are killed and the development cycle of the Ichthyophthirius pathogene is stopped. A further dosage is no longer necessary and the treatment can be stopped immediately after recuperation.
