To promote the economy, which has been badly damaged by the Corona crisis, the German Government decided to temporarily reduce the value added tax on 1 July 2020.<\/p>\n
We expressly welcome this measure. However, since the reduced VAT rates will probably only apply for six months, we recommend that German retailers do not change their sales prices and pass on the reduction in VAT to the customer through a discount at the checkout. The German Ministry of Economy has expressly made this procedure possible through a derogation, so that price tags in the retail stores do not have to be changed.<\/p>\n
We will therefore not change the recommended retail price in our retail price lists and recommend that retailers pass on the benefit of reduced VAT to consumers through a discount.<\/p>\n
