AQUAVITAL NH4/NH3 POWDER-PILLOW TEST
With the AQUAVITAL NH4/NH3 POWDER-PILLOW TEST, you can easily and conveniently determine the total concentration of ammonium (NH4) and ammonia (NH3) in freshwater. The powdered reagent is hygienically packaged in single-use portions for one test each and ensures accurate results with a longer shelf life than a drop test. It’s incredibly easy to use. Pour a water sample into the sample vial, add the reagent, and, after a short reaction time, read the result on the color chart; one water parameter; one reagent.
The determined value is the total concentration of ammonium (NH4) and ammonia (NH3). The proportion of this total concentration that is toxic ammonia (NH3) at a water temperature of 25 °C (77 °F) can be found in the table at the end of the package leaflet, depending on the pH value. At lower water temperatures, the ammonia (NH3) concentration is lower; at higher water temperatures, it is higher.
Ammonium (NH4) is generally non-toxic. Ammonia (NH3), which is present at higher pH levels, can harm fish starting at 0.075 ppm. An ammonia level of 0.2 ppm or higher is dangerous. If ammonia levels are elevated, corrective measures should be taken. In this case, perform a partial water change and investigate the causes. By adding AQUAVITAL BACTOSPRINT, you can establish a robust culture of microorganisms.
